Preventive dental care is important for your well-being.  Good oral hygiene starts at home with daily brushing and flossing.  Regular check-ups with your dentist can help you keep your smile looking healthy.

Brushing

Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft bristled toothbrush.  Brush gently and in a circular motion.  Avoid brushing aggressively back and forth along the gum line.  Remember to brush your tongue to remove any bacteria left after eating.

Flossing

Floss at least once per day.  Flossing will help remove the debris from between your teeth that your toothbrush bristles cannot reach.  Rinsing with a mouthwash will help kill bacteria and freshen your breath.  Many mouthwashes contain small amounts of alcohol.  However, there are now non-alcoholic mouthwashes which will minimize the amount of aftertaste.

Toothpaste and Toothbrushes

There are now many more choices for toothpaste and toothbrushes than in the past.  From "Total Care" to baking soda, to whitening, to sensitive teeth.  Toothbrushes can be hard or soft and electric or manual.  Your dentist can help you recommend various dental products for you to use at home.
